How to Sell MTN Shares Using MTN Mobile Money

So you were able to buy some shares during the MTN Share Offer, good. But now you are thinking of selling or buying additional shares.

When can I Trade my MTN Ghana Shares?

Note: You can only begin trading MTN Ghana shares after MTN Ghana has been officially listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange. Assuming the IPO is successful, you can begin trading starting 5th September 2018.

The trade market is open Monday - Friday between the hours 10am to 3pm.

Follow the steps below to sell or buy MTN Ghana shares using MTN Mobile Money.

Sell Your MTN Ghana Shares

1. Dial MTN Mobile Money short code: *170#

2. Select Financial Services and choose Trade MTN Shares

3. Enter your MTN Mobile Money PIN to access the trading menu.

4. (i) For customers with multiple accounts (Individual, Joint or In Trust For), you will be prompted to select an account to trade with

5. Select the Sell Shares option

6. The unit price you would be displayed. Proceed if you are fine with it

7. Enter the number of MTN Ghana shares you would like to sell

8. Choose how long the order should be valid for / 30 days seem reasonable

9. Confirm details for the sale of MTN Ghana shares (total consideration and cost breakdown will be shown)

10. Enter your MTN Mobile Money PIN to authorise the sale of your MTN Ghana shares

11. (i) An SMS will be sent to confirm the placement of an order to sell MTN Ghana shares and the shares will be blocked on your account

(ii) Once the sell order has been successfully matched, you will receive an SMS confirming the trade, and the requisite amount will be credited to you

(iii) If your order expires before it is matched, you will receive an SMS notification of the expired order and the shares will be released to you.

Note: This method of trading electronically via MTN Mobile Money is only available to individual clients of IC Ghana Securities.

Buy Additional or new MTN Ghana Shares

1. Dial MTN Mobile Money short code: *170#

2. Select Financial Services and choose Trade MTN Shares

3. Enter your MTN Mobile Money PIN to access the trading menu.

4. (i)If you have multiple accounts (Individual, Joint or In Trust For), you will be prompted to select an account to trade with
(ii)If you are a new customer, you will have to agree to the terms and conditions and complete the KYC questions to open an account. New accounts are opened within 48 hours

5. Choose "Buy Shares" option from the menu

6. Choose the MTN Ghana from the list of options

7. Enter the number of MTN Ghana Shares you would like to purchase

8. Choose how long the order should be valid for

9. Confirm details for the purchase of MTN Ghana Shares (total consideration and cost breakdown will be shown) you wish to buy

10. Enter your MTN Mobile Money PIN to authorise purchase of MTN Ghana shares

11. You will receive an SMS to confirm the placement of an order to purchase MTN Ghana Shares

12. Once the purchase order has been successfully matched, you will receive an SMS confirming the trade and the requisite shares will be credited to your account

13. In the event that the order expires before it is matched, you will receive an SMS notification of the expired order

Check your MTN Ghana Shares

1. Dial MTN Mobile Money short code *170#

2. Choose Financial Services

3. Select Trade Shares and enter your PIN

4. Select view Share Holdings

5. And Select MTN Ghana
